Commonly known as “Riffle bugs” or broad-shouldered water striders. Close relatives to Gerridae. Riffle bugs are small, typically about 4.5 mm. Found in lake margins, placid areas of streams, and temporary or permanent ponds. Feed on surface-dwelling arthropods by detecting their surface vibrations.
